1. Monument of Peace Rededication Rally & Ceremony

The Special Event Rally will be held from Thursday, July 21, 2016 to Monday, July 25, 2016. The Rally will include a Welcome Dinner on Thursday, July 21; tours to Boissevain, Canada OR Lake Metagoshie, USA; guided tours of the Peace Garden; Casino night on Friday at Sky Dancer Casino & Resort in Belcourt, ND; a musical evening on Saturday provided by the Peace Garden Music Camp and members of the WBCCI band (who ever can attend); breakfast on Monday at the Historic Lodge and more. Sunday will be the day of celebration, and tentative plans are:

Sunday, July 24
– 9:00 am – Church service in the Chapel or Masonic Lodge
– 2:00 pm – Opening Remarks by Master of Ceremonies
– National Anthems of Canada and USA
– Introduction of distinguished guests
– 2:20 pm – Presentation of the Monument to the Int Peace Gardens
– 2:45 pm – Greetings from political leaders and guest dignitaries
– 3:15 pm – Signing of a “Promise of Peace” by officials
– 3:20 pm – Final remarks and acknowledgements
– 4:00 pm – get-together for all attendees
– 5:30 pm – catered dinner by Peace Garden caterers – for dignitaries and guests, and rally participants.

The Peace Gardens have reserved the entire campground for our rally — consisting of 36 electric and water sites which will be for those who medically need power (ex. CPAP machines, etc.) on a first paid rally fee basis; and a large overflow area which can accommodate approx 100+ RV’s as dry camping. We may be able to have daisy chain water and they have two shower houses – one at each end of the campground site. Hotel accommodations and alternate campgrounds will be provided.

We are finalizing the costs for meals, parking, tours, etc., with the Peace Garden staff and then will be able to do up our rally brochure and get the registrations on-line on our Region website. This is a historic event for the WBCCI and we hope that many of you will be able to attend.

The Tall Ships are again coming to Duluth, MN and Region 7 will again be going aboard. A Special Events/Region 7 Rally is being planned for August 17-22, 2016. New events and tours are being planned. Camping will again be at the Buffalo Valley Campground and limited to 50 units.  On Thursday afternoon you will be on the waters of beautiful Lake Superior to watch the parade of the Tall Ships. Work Rally

Our Region is sponsoring a “Work Rally” at the Int. Peace Gardens from Jul 18 to 20, 2016 to assist them with whatever tasks they need assistance with — weeding of flower beds, sweeping sidewalks, cleaning windows, etc. A detailed list of tasks will be available on the Region 7 website as soon as it is finalized. Everyone is welcome to come and help us out.

Gail Harrower,
Region 7 President
